PERKADINE OINT. / SOLUTION
(POVIDONE IODINE 5 % W/W & 5 % W/V)
PERKADINE contains Povidone Iodine which is a complex of iodine with large molecular organic compound viz. povidone which serves as a carrier and releases Iodine slowly. PERKADINE is a non-irritating, non-toxic, non-staining and has got very prolonged and strong anti-microbial action.
PERKADINE contains an iodophore which slowly liberates inorganic iodine in contact with the skin and mucous membranes. It has a rapid and prolonged germicidal action against a wide spectrum of pathogenic organisms including both gram positive and gram negative bacteria, fungi, protozoa, viruses and bacterial spores. It is used for the treatment of contaminated wounds, pre operative preparation of the skin and vagina, infections of the mouth, herpes infections, oral and vaginal candidiasis, vaginal trichomoniasis, acne vulgaris, and other pyrogenic or seborrhoeic infections of the scalp or skin. It has also been used in the treatment of eczematoid ringworm.
PERKADINE is indicated in burns, ulcers, boils, impetigo, furunculosis, sycosis barbae, otitis externa, paronychia, tinea infections, cutaneous candidosis, herpes, moniliasis, trichomoniasis, vaginitis, pre and post hand scrubbing, degerming of operative site. PERKADINE is effective even in the presence of blood, serum, purulent exudate and necrotic tissue. It has been proved effective even for disinfecting of equipment’s and hydrophilic contact lenses. It has also proved to be useful in cervical erosions.
CONTRA INDICATIONS & PRECAUTIONS:
Hypersensitivity to Iodine, history of abnormal thyroid function or goiter, pregnancy, lactation. It should not be used on patients with non-toxic nodular colloid goiter. Application to large areas of broken skin should be avoided as excessive absorption of iodine may occur. With prolonged use thyroid dysfunction may occur.

PERKADINE SOLUTION 5 % 100 ML
PERKADINE should be applied full strength eight hourly or as often as required as a paint or wet soak and the wound can be covered.
